Sarra Alpert

Sarra Alpert is the National Program Director for Avodah, an organization that works to strengthen the Jewish community's fight against poverty by building powerful networks of early-career Jewish activist leaders. Sarra spent many of her summers at Camp Ramah in California; first as a camper and then working as a counselor, special needs counselor, drama specialist, teacher and unit head, finally capping it off with three summers as the Rosh Hadracha (head of staff training and leadership development). She misses the Saturday morning muffins, Shabbatograms and (oddly enough) staff meetings. Before working at Avodah, Sarra taught at NYU for four years in the Expository Writing Program, taught at a wide range of Hebrew schools (in both typical and special needs classrooms), and received her MFA in Fiction from New York University and her BA in Religious Studies and Literature at UCSD. This is her ninth year on the Cornerstone faculty.
